The Secret Garden

The Secret Garden, located deep within the vast grounds of the ancient Korean palace complex, was given its name after the Japanese occupation army mistakenly interpreted "private garden" as "secret garden". As a result, the name has stuck. Much of the palace buildings are still under construction, as many of these buildings were torn down by the Japanese. This garden was called the private garden because only the king and his immediate household were allowed inside the garden.
